Today I went out to the flying club for their annual Stampede Breakfast. It was fun to see a lot of people that I havn't seen in a while - plus the breakfast was free!!! Here are some pictures.
Thanks for your kind comments on my blog on aviation. Your pictures of this article are very good. There's a biplane model featured in one of them, could you please let me know what that one is? Thanks and all the best.
The bi-plane is a "Curtis Jenny" or Curtis JN model that was constructed by Fred McCall Jr. and some friends to commemorate Fred McCall Sr., a WWI ace and the man after which the YYC airport is named. The model will go on display at the Glenbow Museum as part of the "Renegades of Alberta" display.
Hey CanaGal, "youze guyz" don't look so bad "urselfs".
All night I've been feeling really guilty about responding to the question regarding the Curtis JN, as soon after I posted my response I realized that really Quodlibet, it is YOUR blog and I had no business doing what I did. However, you know me, I just got really excited about someone "talking" planes and lost control of myself resulting in, shall we say, misplaced exhuberance. SORRY!, My apologies
I am especially sorry that I missed THE breakfast. I've always had a great time and it seems I missed out even more this year. I must say though that everyone in your pictures are pretty darn good lookin'!
I'm glad you answered the plane question because I couldn't remember what it was called! You are always welcome to write whatever you want on my blog pingcat!!
To answer Amelia - Right now the Calgary Stampede is going on in the city - it is an annual thing and has been going on forever. There is a Rodeo, and all kind of Cowboy (cowgirl) type events and people come from all over the world to see it. If you google 'Calgary Stampede' you'll find lots! So during this time places all over the city have Stampede breakfasts in honor of the Stampede - generally pancakes, eggs, and maybe sausage.
Pack a bag and come on over! This is a great time of year here. And look at all the people you know here now, me, Canagal and pingcat!! You're always welcome!

What do they serve at Stampede breakfast? And why is it called Stampede?? :)
Hey I just noticed the old lady in the cowboy hat and making the peace sign in the background of the first photograph. Cute!
