Fish Creek Park

Who knew that Fish Creek park was so beautiful and full of trees? I should have gone there years ago as it is exactly what I miss about home - TREES!!! In my mind, I had always imagined the park as more of a prairie environment so never took the time to go for a visit. Now I know better and plan to take better advantage of such an amazing place so close to where I live!

A Hug from Yellowknife!

My friend Nolene and her bo Mike are so sweet! The other day I arrived home to find these flowers on my doorstep! She lives in Yellowknife so I don't get to see her very often, however we talk on the phone a few times a week. My brother and I always say that we adopted her and are her Canadian family (she is from South Africa where her parents still live), but I think that she adopted us because she is always doing the most thoughtful things for us.

The card read, "This is instead of a hug from Yellowknife". So sweet! Noelene, my friend, I am lucky to know you! Thanks - you made my day!

I am Canadian!

I have always been a proud Canadian, but every once and a while something will happen to really make me realize just how very lucky I am to be Canadian.
I had this very experience last week regarding our health care system. I, like all Albertans pay my $44.00 per month for health care and by doing so can go to the doctor or hospital and get whatever I need done and that's it. I don't get a bill or have to get my folks to mortgage their house or any of that. I cannot even begin to imagine what my 'health care experience' last week would have cost. I am so lucky and thankful for our system, and although many people may think that it has its faults, maybe they haven't been sick lately.
